Maine Mod General Rules

A. For the benefit of close competition, rules will be adjusted as needed.

B. Maine Mods reserves the right to review or change any of the following rules at any time. Maine Mods shall be the sole judge and interpreter of all of the rules, regulations and protests. If you should have questions about and of our rules, you are required to ask only the Maine Mods Race Director. Not all of your questions will be able to be answered at the time they are asked. If your question is of such importance that the Race Director deems such action necessary, it will be requested that you submit your question in writing and request a written answer.

C. Whenever used in these rules, the word stock shall mean: as comes from the manufacturer of such part in non hi-performance mode. Any part not being used in the same manner it was intended to be used for by the manufacturer (O.E.M.) of such part is not considered a stock part.

D. Should the Race Director find that any competitor (and or any member of their crew or other individual associated with such competitor) is violating the rules or exhibiting un-sportsmanlike conduct on or off the track, the following actions shall apply:

**Suspension

**Loss of Position

**Loss of Points

Furthermore, if such conduct involves any competitor, crew member or other individual associated with such competitor fighting, that competitor and their crew will be required to leave the premises immediately upon the request of the Race Director to do so. Additionally, any such altercations will be reported to the local authorities and the competitor and their crew will be banned for a period of not less than one full calendar year.

E. Any and all protests must be filed by a car owner or driver with a Maine Mod Official within 15 minutes of the finish of the Maine Mod Feature event. Protest Fees are as follows:

1. Upper end of an engine -$250.00

2. Lower end of an engine-$350

3. Any suspension component including tires/rims -$100

4. Fuel- $50.00

5. Tire Treatment-$50.00

 

Any car, or component of such car found to be illegal in a protest shall result in the following:

**Return of the protest fee to the protesting car owner

**The car found to be illegal will be required to add 50 lbs of right side weight for the remainder of the Season

**Prior to returning from any suspension, said car must be inspected for the illegal item prior to participating in any future Maine Mod event.

**The above penalties will also apply to a car and its driver should they refuse tech

**Said car and its driver shall lose any points earned at the event the offense occurs and or is discovered.

If after a protest is filed and no violation is found, the protest fee shall be split between the Maine Mod Series and the car owner whose car was in question

F. Sponsor / Series Decals * The Maine Mod Series will require that each car display the sticker of a Series sponsor (along with a MaineMod.com decal) in the location requested by the Series.

G. Car Identification- Each car shall be required to display their one or two digit car number (in a color that is in contrast to the panel it is placed on) as assigned by the Series as follows:

Door Panels * No less than 16* high Rear Panel * No less than 4* high Roof Panel * No less than 16* high and (must face ditch side) Nose Panel * No less than 4* high

H. Safety- All cars will have the following safety equipment installed: Whenever the word current is used, it shall mean no more than 3 years old

1. On board fire suppression or current fire extinguisher.

2. Five point harness

3. Halo style seat

4. Master Kill Switch Easily Accessible from Outside of Car

5. Drivers Side Window Net

6. Helmet- Minimum Standards DOT & Snell 2005

7. Fire Retardant Drivers Suit, Gloves & Shoes

8. Collapsible Steering Column (recommended, but not required)

All Safety Equipment must be re-inspected after any severe impacts

I. Components *All components on each car must be comprised of the *spec* part that is listed for the Series. The only exceptions will be:

1. Decals

2. Steering Wheels

3. Gauges

4. Lubricants

J. Engines * All engines will remain in stock form and must be sealed by tech inspector or a Series approved shop prior to being allowed to compete in any Maine Mod event. As of May 8, 2010, it has been determined that a lighter weight clutch/flywheel will be allowed on the 2nd generation Zetec powered cars. Additionally, it may become necessary to install a cold air intake kit on the Zetec powered cars.

K. Shocks * Must be Spec shock (pro Shock Model SB) as approved and issued by the Series

L. Springs * Must be Spec Spring (Hypercoil) as issued and approved by the Series

M. Tires & Wheels * Must be Spec Wheel as issued by the Series. Twelve tires will be allocated to each car owner for the Season. Should a owner own more than one car, the same rules will apply to each individual car. If you cut down a tire of have other failures considered to be accidental in nature by the Tech Director, you will be allowed to purchase a replacement tire that will not count against your tire allocation. No swapping of tires between car owners as each tire will be numbered and recorded in the Series parts book. The only tire allowed to be used during any Maine Mod event will be stamped with a special stamp by Hoosier Tire. You will be allowed to purchase as many practice tires as you desire. If you practice at a event in conjunction with the Series, you will only be allowed to practice on tires purchased through the Series. If it is determined by the Series that a car or cars may become a safety concern unless they are issues additional tires, the 12-tire limit may be increased.

N. Nerf Bars * 1 * * minimum Outside Diameter. Front & Rear Tires shall be no less than 1* outside of Nerf Bars

O. Wheelbase * Minimum 93* Maximum 96*

P. Frame Height * 2.5* on New Cars 2.5* on 1st Generation Cars

Q. Bumper Height * TBD

R. Rear Spoiler * No wider than body. Height-5* Width Width-TBD Angle-TBD

S. Max Body Width * 62? outside to outside

T. Tread Width * 78*

U. Weight * New Cars * 1600 with driver 1st Generation Cars * 1400 with driver

V. Windshield * Drivers Side- Material-Lexan (minimum 1/8th* thick. Center bar is mandatory. Ditch Side- Material consistent with drivers side or mesh. Center Bar is mandatory.

W. Weight Rule- Maximum 58% left side. Any added weight(s) shall be painted White with the car # inscribed on it. Weight(s) must be securely fastened and must also be tethered in a manner which will not allow the weight(s) to come off the car or drag on the ground should it become un-fastened. Fuel *

X. 93 Octane Maximum including Sunoco No Lead Race Fuels. No Additives. Fuel will be tested at random. Fuel may be tested any time from the time the car is unloaded to the time the car leaves the event. Top three finishers will be tested at the conclusion of each feature. Tire Treatments * Not allowed. Will be tested at random. May be tested at any time. Any tire found to have been altered and or treated in any way shall become property of the Series.

Y. Top 3 finishers will be tested at the conclusion of each feature.

2011 RULE CHANGES

A. All race tires will be collected at the end of each event by the series and returned to the car owner as they arrive at the next event.

B. The GSXR 1000 engines will not be allowed to run in the Series.

C. GSXR1100 powered cars will
